Announcing VolTools Backend Integration and Query Tracking

We are excited to announce the latest update to VolTools, our financial analytics platform, featuring several improvements and the deployment of a backend designed for future scalability.

Volatility Tools

What’s New in VolTools?

  • Minor GUI Changes: The user interface has been refined for a more streamlined experience, ensuring smooth interaction and easy navigation.
  • Backend Deployment: We have deployed a new backend that currently tracks queries, laying the groundwork for a robust future quant library. While it doesn’t perform calculations yet, it is poised to support around 6-7 query types, covering a wide range of financial instruments and scenarios.
  • C++ Quant Library Integration: Our embedded C++ library is evolving to become the core quant library. One of the benefits of this architecture is that the future pricing integration will be straightforward, especially if we maintain the current data formats.

Backend and Query Handling

The backend, powered by Golang, serves as the backbone for query tracking and will evolve to handle more complex financial calculations. As of now, the backend supports:

  • Tracking queries in real time.
  • Query performance: While the current limits allow for parsing speeds of 0.1 GB/s to 1 GB/s, it’s important to note that performance may be impacted due to free-tier hosting, which introduces I/O limitations. We are exploring alternatives to overcome these limitations.

Looking Ahead

In the coming months, we’ll be implementing the full set of query types, which will power the core of the quant library and significantly enhance VolTools' functionality.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to expand VolTools into a powerful, fully-integrated pricing and analytics solution.
